Mike Purdy Speaks on the Presidents at Whitworth University

I had the privilege of speaking to a political science class on “The American Presidency” at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington on September 26, 2013.

History Changing Relationship: My topic was the historical significance of the relationship between Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft and how their warm personal friendship and later bitter feud impacted the course of American history. Without this relationship, it is highly unlikely that Taft would ever have become President, and Woodrow Wilson would not have been elected President in 1912.

What If? History is full of fascinating “what if” questions that we can only speculate on so much before we get lost in wondering about the ripple effects of one action or decision.
