178 years ago, Benjamin Harrison was born in North Bend, Ohio. He served just one term as president, book-ended by Grover Cleveland’s two non-consecutive terms.
Harrison’s grandfather was William Henry Harrison, the nation’s 9th president who died after one month in office. Benjamin would have been a seven year old boy when his grandfather was inaugurated president. Was Benjamin at the inauguration?

Special thanks to reader Edwin L. Lamont for answering the question about whether Benjamin Harrison was present at his grandfather’s inauguration.
Ed wrote: According to Charles W. Calhoun’s 2005 biography of Benjamin Harrison titled Benjamin Harrison published by Time Books as part of the American Presidents Series, page 8 – “Seven -year-old Benjamin Harrison was not on hand for the event (William Henry Harrison’s Presidential Inauguration)…” Calhoun sources Kenneth R. Steven’s Buckeye Presidents: Ohioans in the White House Kent State University Press 2003, page 35-37.
