There are actually two winners to announce.
Bush Beats Ford as Oldest President: First, on November 25, 2017, George H.W. Bush nabbed the record from Gerald R. Ford as the oldest former president. As of November 25, Bush was 93 years, 166 days old. Ford died when he was 93 years, 165 days old Click here to see my earlier blog posting on this subject.
Winner of Free Book About Chester Arthur: Second, we have a winner of the free book giveaway of the recently published biography of Chester A. Arthur (The Unexpected President: The Life and Times of Chester A. Arthur). I announced the drawing in a recent blog post entitled “23 Mysterious Letters that Shaped an Obscure Presidency.” Interestingly, there were 23 people who expressed an interest in having their names entered for the drawing for the free book that is being made available by the publisher, Da Capo Press. I held the drawing on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2017. Congratulations to Stephen Aronson of New York (very appropriate since Chester Arthur was from New York).
